Custom Dashboard Filters Make Reporting Easier
Custom dashboard filters now give you much more control over what each GoHighLevel widget shows. Instead of opening a dashboard and changing filters every time, you can set the rules once and keep them in place.
You can filter widgets by assigned user, tags, source, lead value, custom fields, and attribution. You can also set a fixed date range, compare results with a past period, rename widgets, apply themes, and duplicate widgets for different users or segments.
For agencies and teams, this makes reporting much easier to manage. You can build cleaner client dashboards, give team members more focused views, and spend less time adjusting the same settings over and over.

Custom dashboard filters give you more control over what each GHL widget shows without rebuilding filters every time. You can create cleaner, more focused dashboards for your team and clients while keeping date ranges, comparisons, and segments consistent.

What Changed With Custom Dashboard Filters?
Custom dashboard filters have changed how much control you have over General Widgets in GoHighLevel. Before this update, dashboard widgets were more basic and often needed extra filtering each time you viewed the dashboard.
Now, each widget can hold its own settings. You can add permanent conditions based on assigned user, tags, source, lead value, custom fields, and attribution. You can also lock a widget to a set date range instead of using the main dashboard date filter.
Automate marketing, manage leads, and grow faster with GoHighLevel.

GoHighLevel also makes the date property and date range easier to see right on the widget. You can compare one period with the last period or last year, then rename, style, or duplicate the widget to suit your dashboard.
The main change is simple. Your widgets can now stay focused on the exact data you want, which means less manual filtering and fewer confusing reports.
Why Custom Dashboard Filters Matter
Custom dashboard filters help you cut out noise and focus on the numbers that matter. Instead of showing every user, source, or lead type in one widget, you can keep each widget focused on one clear purpose.
This is useful for agencies, sales teams, and client reporting. You can show each user only their own results, create separate views for different lead sources, and keep client dashboards easier to read. You can also use fixed date ranges and comparison periods to make reports more consistent from one visit to the next.
The biggest benefit is simple. You spend less time fixing filters and more time using the data. Your reports are easier to trust, easier to explain, and easier for clients or team members to understand.
How to Use Custom Dashboard Filters in GoHighLevel
Custom dashboard filters are set up inside the General Widgets on your GoHighLevel sub-account dashboard. In this walkthrough, we’ll open the dashboard editor, select a widget, update its settings, add permanent filter conditions, and apply a theme.
Here are the steps we will follow:
- Open the Dashboard Editor.
- Edit a General Widget.
- Configure the Widget.
- Add Permanent Conditions.
- Apply a Theme and Save.
To start, make sure you are logged in to the correct GoHighLevel sub-account.
Step 01 – Open the Dashboard Editor
- The main menu on the left side of your screen includes the main areas you use in GoHighLevel.
1.1 Click Dashboard.
- This opens the Dashboard area in your GHL sub-account.
- You will see the widgets currently added to the dashboard.
1.2 Click Edit dashboard in the top-right corner.
- This puts the dashboard into Edit mode.
- You can now edit, duplicate, or change the widgets on the dashboard.

Step 02 – Edit a General Widget
- Once the dashboard is in Edit mode, each widget includes its own menu for making changes.
2.1 Find the General Widget you want to update.
- In this example, we are editing the Opportunity Status widget.
2.2 Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the widget.
- A menu will open with the available widget options.
2.3 Click Edit.
- The Edit Widget panel will open on the right side of the screen.
- You can now change the widget settings.

Step 03 – Configure the Widget
- The Configure tab controls the main setup of the widget, including its title and date settings.
3.1 Click the Configure tab.
- This section opens by default when you edit the widget.
3.2 Review or change the Title.
- You can rename the widget to make it easier for your team or client to understand.
- Use a clear title that explains what the widget is showing.
3.3 Open the Date range override dropdown.
- This lets you set a date range for this specific widget.
- The widget can use its own date range instead of following the main dashboard date range.
3.4 Select the date range you want to use.
- Options may include Dashboard date range, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, This Week, Next Week, Last Week, and other available periods.
- Choose the range that fits the data you want this widget to track.
- You can also review the Date property shown above the date range setting.

Step 04 – Add Permanent Conditions
- The Conditions tab is where you create custom dashboard filters that stay attached to the widget.
4.1 Click the Conditions tab.
- The condition settings will open.
4.2 Click Add filter.
- A new filter row will appear.

4.3 Choose the field you want to filter.
- In this example, the selected field is Tags.
- Available fields can change based on the type of widget you are editing.
4.4 Choose the operator.
- In this example, the operator is Is.
- The available operator will depend on the field you select.
4.5 Choose the value for the condition.
- In this example, the widget is filtered using the abandoned cart tag.
- The widget will now focus on data that matches this condition.
4.6 Click AND if you want to add another condition to the same filter group.
- Use this when the data must meet more than one condition.
4.7 Click Add filter if you want to create another filter group.
- This gives you more control over how the widget data is narrowed down.
- Your saved conditions will remain attached to the widget when the dashboard is opened again.

Step 05 – Apply a Theme and Save
- The Themes tab lets you change the visual style of the widget.
5.1 Click the Themes tab.
- The available widget themes will appear.
5.2 Select the theme you want to use.
- Choose a style that works with your dashboard layout or client branding.
- Review the colors to make sure the widget stays easy to read.
5.3 Click Save.
- Your widget settings, conditions, date range, and theme will be saved.
- The updated widget will return to the dashboard with your custom setup in place.

Once the widget is saved, review it on the dashboard and make sure it is showing the right data. It is also worth checking the date range and filters before using the dashboard for team or client reporting.
Pro Tips for Custom Dashboard Filters
Custom dashboard filters work best when each widget has one clear purpose. Keep the setup simple, and avoid piling too many conditions into one widget. If you need another view, duplicate the widget and adjust the filters for a different user, source, or segment.
Use clear widget names and keep date ranges consistent across similar reports. For example, “Abandoned Cart Leads” or “Sales This Month” is easier to understand than a vague title. Also remember that Pipeline is a runtime filter, and General Widgets do not currently respond to dashboard-level Quick Filters.
For team reporting, use Assigned User = Logged in User when that option is available. This helps each person see the data that matters to them without creating a separate dashboard for every team member.
What Custom Dashboard Filters Mean for Your Business
Custom dashboard filters can make reporting easier for both your team and your clients. Instead of sorting through extra data, each widget can focus on the numbers that matter for that user, campaign, source, or segment.
For agencies, this means cleaner client dashboards and less time spent fixing filters before a report or meeting. For sales teams, it means each rep can get a more focused view of their own activity and results.
The biggest benefit is consistency. Once the filters, dates, and comparisons are set, the dashboard is easier to read and easier to use each time it opens.
