GoKollab Dark Mode for Communities

GoKollab Dark Mode now works across Communities and Courses on the web. Members can switch between light and dark views from the top navigation, and their choice is remembered when they come back.

Community owners also get separate branding controls for each mode. Inside Settings → Appearance, you can choose a Light or Dark palette, use a preset theme, or adjust the colors yourself. Changes made to one mode will not overwrite the other.

The update covers much more than the main community feed. Dark Mode also works across posts, comments, chats, channels, events, calendars, member areas, course lessons, quizzes, assignments, assessments, live sessions, and other parts of the GoKollab experience.

GoKollab Dark Mode gives members more control over how they use a community or course. For people who spend a lot of time reading posts, watching lessons, joining events, or working through training, a darker view can feel more comfortable in low-light settings.

It also helps community owners protect their brand. Instead of relying on one color setup for every view, you can build a light palette and a dark palette that each fit your style. That gives you more control over text, buttons, backgrounds, and other key visual details.

For agencies, course creators, and membership businesses, this means a cleaner and more consistent experience. Members get the view they prefer, while owners keep the brand looking the way it should in both modes.

GoKollab Dark Mode can be switched on by members from inside a community. Community owners can also control how their brand looks in both Light and Dark Mode from the Appearance settings.

Here are the steps we will follow:

• Open Your GoKollab Community.
• Switch Between Light and Dark Mode.
• Update the Dark Mode Appearance.

To start, make sure you are logged in to GoKollab on the web.

• The GoKollab side menu gives you access to the communities you belong to.

1.1 Click the My Communities icon on the left side of the screen.

• Your list of available communities will open.
• You can use the search box if you belong to several communities.

1.2 Click the community you want to open.

• This takes you into the main community area.
• From here, you can access discussions, learning content, events, members, and other community sections.

• Once you are inside a community, you can change the appearance from the top navigation.

2.1 Find the appearance icon in the top-right area of the screen.

• In Light Mode, the icon appears as a sun.
• Hovering over it shows the option to Switch to Dark Mode.

2.2 Click the appearance icon.

• The community will change to Dark Mode.
• The page background, navigation, cards, and other supported areas will update to the darker appearance.

2.3 Click the appearance icon again if you want to return to Light Mode.

• In Dark Mode, the icon changes to a moon.
• Hovering over it shows the option to Switch to Light Mode.
• Your selected appearance is remembered automatically across sessions.

• Community owners can control the Dark Mode brand colors from the community settings.

3.1 Click Settings in the top navigation.

• This opens the settings area for the community.

3.2 Click Appearance under the Branding section.

• The Configure Theme area will open.
• This is where you can manage how the community looks in Light and Dark Mode.

3.3 Select Dark under Color Mode.

• This switches the theme editor to the Dark Mode settings.
• Light and Dark Mode colors are managed separately.

3.4 Choose a Community Theme or open the Customize option.

• You can select one of the available preset themes.
• You can also customize the palette to better match your brand.

3.5 Review the Preview panel.

• Use the preview to check how the selected colors will look before saving.
• Make sure text, buttons, backgrounds, and other key areas are easy to read.

3.6 Click Save changes.

• Your Dark Mode branding will now be saved.
• Changes made to the Dark palette will not overwrite the Light Mode palette.

Once the changes are saved, switch between Light and Dark Mode inside the community and check a few key areas. Review posts, learning content, events, and other member-facing pages to make sure your brand stays clear and easy to read in both modes.

GoKollab Dark Mode works best when you test both views before you finish. A color that looks good in Light Mode may be hard to read in Dark Mode, so check your text, buttons, links, and background colors in both settings.

Keep your main brand style consistent, but do not force the exact same shades into each mode. Dark Mode often needs lighter text and softer colors, so use the Preview panel to catch any contrast issues before you save.

After saving, check more than the main community page. Open a post, course lesson, event, or member page to make sure GoKollab Dark Mode still looks clear and consistent across the full experience.
